Final Week.

Take aways from the class:

1. I have learned how to make guided computer instructions easily. This is a huge help for when I am out.
2. I have learned how to set up channels in youtube. Not a huge advance, because I set up links in all google documents, but it might help make material more continuous from year to year.
3. I am excited to use explain everything more in my classes. It may have application in bio ethics in summaries for the freshman. I am thinking AV summaries would get them up to speed faster a year later.
4. I thought more about digital citizenship than before and will incorporate more of it into my classes.
5. I am thinking about how to team up kids in distant places to solve problems. It could be really useful for developing new knowledge.
6. All in all, a worthwhile class. Thanks.

Week 5

OK, So what did I learn and think about this week.

How do I teach and incorporate digital; citizenship into my classes. I do indirectly through cartoons and commentary, but it would be good to formalize a unit. Its kind of easy because I have the honors kids. It might be worth incorporating this into the bio ethics units, because it is ethics.

I am going to try having the kids make a digital portfolio as we begin our cell unit this week. I am going to have them take their own pictures, gather pictures of both cells and organelles. I want these portfolio to look nice nice and encompass an analysis of each image that relates form and function. This could be quite cool.

The reading was fine, although not really that different. I guess have thought about this stuff a lot makes for less of a gee wiz factor. The material on reflection was useful because it reinforced my already existing beliefs. Reflection is good.

Assignment 5c, the artifact seemed a little long. I think it could have been accomplished with fewer examples.
